Ministers: Sell National Theatre buildings

MINISTERS with economic portfolios (Finance, Transport, Labour and other ministers) discussed a Ministry of Culture proposal on how to complete construction work at the new Slovak National Theatre (SND) building, the daily SME reported.

All economic portfolio ministers were present, except The Economy Minister, Pavol Rusko.

The ministers agreed on a solution and are to advise the cabinet to approve the sale of the buildings of the National Theatre’s headquarters as well as the PO Hviezdoslav theatre.

Money from the sale would than be used to found a new joined-stock company which would own the SND’s new building.

The current SND management find this solution "ridiculous". They radically disapprove of moving to a new building administered by another party. They compared this proposal to "direct liquidation".
