"Wind" blows a gale in business circles

THE LABOUR Ministry crusade against illegal workers has caused panic in business circles. It is estimated that since the beginning of April, when the ministry announced its Vietor (Wind) operation, over 30,000 new positions have been declared to the state social insurer Sociálna poisťovňa, the daily SME reported.

Labour Minister Ľudovít Kaník says that previously these jobs did not officially exist, and the people working in them were doing so illegally.

During the first week of "Wind", 832 people were found to be working illegally, which is 600 more than the total in 2003 and 2004.
