New bridge may bear Pope's name

BRATISLAVA's fifth bridge across the Danube River, which has the working name "Košická Bridge", will probably be named after the late Pope John Paul II, the Pravda daily reported.

According to the city mayor's spokesman, Milan Vajda, "Members of the council received many calls from citizens requesting that the bridge be named after the Holy Father."

The final decision will be made on April 28.
