EVENTS COUNTRYWIDE

WORKS by phenomenal Czech artist Josef Váchal - woodcutter, painter, poet and writer - are now on display at the Bratislava City Gallery's Pálffy Palace. Symbolism, art nouveau, naturalism and expressionist movements influenced Váchal, who used the creative process as his struggle for freedom. The unique collection of graphic works, oil paintings and book illustrations has never been exhibited to such an extent in Bratislava before. The display runs at Panská 19 until August 28. Pálffy Palace is open daily except Monday between 11:00 and 18:00. Tickets cost Sk80. For more information call 02/5443-1556.
