No wonder, then, that the organizers of Wilsonic seized upon the name to describe their annual festival of music that insists on following its own exploratory path. Treading somewhere between jazz and pop, rock and electronica, this festival refused to tie itself to any one genre.
For five years now, the Wilsonic festival has pushed musical boundaries in an enjoyable way, presenting famous international performers, local acts and musicians from across Eastern Europe. The result is an atmosphere

A taste of the lineup this year are the four DJs of German group Jazzanova, who will play their warm electronic jazz to the accompaniment of Clara Hill's soulful voice. Also from Germany hails Apparat, whose emotional microtechno goes beyond just beats. Englishman Chris Clark will carve out his own kind of instrumental hip-hop and DJ Vadim and One Self will lay down solid grooves and melodic, funky raps.

A surprise of this year's festival will be Saturday afternoon performances at the Bratislava Castle. Brave are the hearts of the city officials who allowed this festival into the city's symbol of power - the organizers just might use the opportunity to launch a new independence movement.
Wilsonic takes place June 10, 20:00-6:00, at Bratislava's PKO centre and June 11 from 13:00-22:00 in the Bratislava Castle and 21:00-6:00 at PKO. Tickets to both nights cost Sk750 presale, Sk850 at the door while one
