Police succeeding against mafia

THE OFFICE for Fighting Organized Crime has been more successful than ever this year, said Police Vice President Jaroslav Spišiak.

According to the statistics so far, two murders were committed in the criminal underworld in Slovakia and police managed to solve both of them immediately.

In addition to this, 10 mafia murders from the past and four attempted murders were solved, he said.

The police have charged a total of 28 members of criminal gangs, including two underworld bosses. Of these, 23 are in pre-trial custody. The police have managed to prevent six murders, the SITA news agency reported.
