Ness opens software facility in Košice

NESS Technologies opened a software development and service centre on July 1 at the newly-built Information Technology Centre in Košice, the TASR news wire reported.

The company chose to locate its operations in Košice to be closer to its European customers, said Ivan Hruška who heads the corporate division for Europe. "Košice is attractive because of its two universities, which produce well-educated and quality personnel. Also, we expect interest due to the high unemployment in this area," he said.

Ness is planning to manage and develop software applications for Western Europe, with clients initially from Switzerland and The Netherlands.

Ness Slovakia is to receive a regional grant from the state worth Sk54.9 million (€1.43 million) for its new centre. This grant will be used to cover wage costs. A further Sk8.8 million (€230,000) will be allocated for training company employees.

Ness Slovakia is a 100-percent subsidiary of Ness Technologies B.V. (registered in Naarden, The Netherlands), which is in turn wholly owned by Ness Technologies Inc., of Delaware in the United States.
