Slovak unemployment rate second highest in the EU

SLOVAKIA’s unemployment rate in July was 15.2 percent, the second highest in the EU after Poland, according to data published by Eurostat, the European statistical office.

Poland’s unemployment measured 17.6 percent.

Nevertheless, Slovakia’s unemployment rate posted the third greatest year-on-year decrease after Lithuania and Estonia, the Hospodárske noviny daily wrote. In July 2004, Slovakia’s unemployment rate was 18.1 percent.
