Average monthly wage should increase

THE AVERAGE monthly wage should exceed Sk17,200 (€440) this year, which would be an increase of 8.7 percent compared to 2004, financial analysts say.

Even if Slovak salaries keep rising at the current rate, they would remain the lowest in the European Union, the daily SME wrote.

According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, low salaries in the eastern part of the EU are linked to the lower labor productivity.
