VÚCs want more say in spending

SLOVAKIA may gain more than €10 billion (Sk385 billion) for regional development from EU funds and the regional VÚC units want to gain greater control over the distribution of these funds, the Hospodárske noviny daily wrote.

At the moment, ministries decide how the EU money is distributed.

The VÚCs think that they should be entrusted with deciding over the division of funds for local infrastructure projects, IT, education, and tourism.
