Western SLOVAKIA

THE SLOVAK capital turns into the Mecca of nu jazz and intelligent electronic music on October 6 and 7. During its Nu Jazz Dayz, Bratislava will host the biggest names of the innovative genre from abroad and Slovakia. Kid Koala will arrive from Canada, ex-Jungle Funk-ist Vinx from the USA, Skalpel from Poland and "eclectic" DJ Blue from the Czech Republic, among others. The Theatre: Passion, Body and Voice - The colossal display, which maps the development of Slovak theatre in all its historical, social and artistic splendour, covers theatrical events and trends from medieval times up to 2000.

A DANCE festival, 4 Days 4 You, brings the best on the contemporary dance scene to Banská Bystrica. Over four days, from October 4 to 7, the festival features seven performances. The DAJV ensemble, led by Marta Poláková, one of the leading figures of contemporary Slovak dance, opens the festival with Stroke. On October 5, Tomáš Danielis performs Feather, and Daniel Raček and Anna Caunerová dance together in Remote Edens, by Romanian choerographer living in Prague, Ioana Mona Popovici. The next day features Eva Klimáčková, currently acting in Paris, in River 04, and Anton Lachký dancing with Eulalia Ayguade Farro from Spain in Twice Read. Štúdio tanca (Dance Studio) presents an extract of its new production, New Trees Inside of Me, also on October 6. Du Wadance completes the festival with Sapro-Agape. Each festival evening starts at 19:00 in Komorné divadlo (the Chamber Theatre) at Námestie Slobody 3 in Banská Bystrica. Tickets are Sk150 for individual evenings and Sk450 for the entire festival.
