Reader feedback: Reinforcing stereotypes

Re: MEP criticizes Slovak gender equality committee chairwoman, Flash News, September 30, 2005

Regardless of what Záborská's personal views are, how can she be so careless as to not run the committee properly? If she had received criticism for having conservative views, then one would at least know she is doing her job.

She is reinforcing the stereotype of the lazy eastern European who just wants a title and not take on the responsibility that goes with it. If a Dutch MP made such a comment [about not taking her committee work seriously], I doubt she would make that up without at least having some evidence.

Maybe Záborská should go home herself and stay in the kitchen and let a woman who wants to do the work necessary to help improve the position of women in society accomplish what she is blocking.
