Reader feedback: Argue the issues

Re: MEP criticizes Slovak gender equality committee chairwoman, Flash News, September 30, 2005

I have read elsewhere that Mrs Záborská's committee work is hamstrung by a lack of interest from many members who give more attention to other committees they sit on. The gender equality committee has low status and its work overlaps with other committees' work.

Ms in 't Veld probably has principled reasons for opposing Mrs Záborská, but I wish that she would argue on the issues rather than using this sort of undermining to take control of the instruments of power.

Píšem or pišám?

"Do ľava," (to the left) I yelled, "Nie, do prava" (no, to the right), I gasped. "Dolšie," I screamed. "Nie, nie, horšie..." My Slovak girlfriend collapsed in laughter. Was it something I said?
