Slovak population expected to shrink

IN 2050 more than 9 billion people will be living on Earth, which is 2.5 billion more than today.

While some European nations such as Great Britain, Ireland, France, and the Netherlands can expect population growth, other European states, including Slovakia and other central European nations, will see a considerable drop in population, according to the UN's Population Fund.

In its regular report the fund foresees that the current Slovak population of 5.4 million will shrink to 4.6 million, the Pravda daily reported.
