Bird flu gets closer to Slovakia

BIRD flu, a virus that may cause a pandemic, is coming nearer to Europe. The first cases of bird flu have already been reported in Romania and Turkey. In response, Slovakia has banned the import of meat products, eggs, feathers, live poultry and feed from these two countries, said the daily SME.

Slovakia still does not have enough anti-viral drugs to combat the sickness.

Meanwhile, the Czech Republic has already bought anti-viral drugs worth 300 million Czech crowns (€10.2 million).
