Express delivery market could grow by 20 percent

THE SLOVAK market for the express transportation of consignments as well as the road transportation market has the potential to grow at an annual 15 to 20 percent.

THE SLOVAK market for the express transportation of consignments as well as the road transportation market has the potential to grow at an annual 15 to 20 percent.

Laurenc Svitok, chairman of the Slovak Association of Express Transporters and Director General of DHL Express (Slovakia), said: "By 2010, the turnover of express and road transportation companies could double, compared to the present situation," the news agency SITA wrote.

The total annual turnover within the road transportation market currently stands at around Sk10 billion (€260 million). Meanwhile, express transportation companies, generate sales of tens to hundreds of millions of Slovak crowns.

According to Svitok, the main factor influencing the growth of express and truck transportation will be the growing number of investments to be completed in Slovakia over the next few years. The increased volume of transportation will also be supported by existing industrial operations that plan to increase their volumes of production.
