The National Bank of Slovakia and state institutions are trying to familiarize the Slovak public with the common European currency through various campaigns and promotional events. Two months ago the NBS, in cooperation with the EU Commission, opened an exhibition called Euro Coins Genesis Expo, which traces the history of the euro. Now the public is being asked to decide on the design for the reverse sides of Slovakia's euro coins. People can vote by phone call or SMS for one of ten motifs until November 20. The NBS wants to launch a major information campaign on the euro in 2008. Slovakia should adopt euro in 2009.
