Three new stretches of highway were put into operation on December 11, the Pravda daily reported on December 12.
Construction of two of them was launched by the previous government of Mikuláš Dzurinda, while construction of the third was launched nine years ago.
The most important stretch is a 7.5-kilometre section from Hričovské Podhradie to Žilina-Strážov, which cost about Sk5.3 billion. It was built in a record short time of two years.
