Though the number of people working without a work permit in Slovakia has been dropping, experts are unable to tell whether this means that illegal labour is going legal.
The Košice Labour Inspection Office checked 20,000 people in 2007, of which approximately 1,200 were illegally employed, Slavena Vorobelová of the office told the SITA newswire.
The National Labour Inspection Office recorded the highest number of illegal workers (334) in the Prešov Region while the lowest number of illegal workers, 34, were recorded in the Trnava Region.
