NAD SLOVENSKOM (Over Slovakia), a book of outstanding aerial photos of Slovakia, recently won a competition to name the most beautiful book about Slovakia published last year.

A jury comprised of renowned graphic, printing experts and photographers picked the book for its unique and often surprising images taken by the father-son team of Vladimír and Vladimír Bárta.

The jury announced the winner in Banská Bystrica on March 13, the SITA newswire wrote.

The announcement took place at the opening of an exhibition entitled The Most Beautiful Books and Promotional Materials about Slovakia of 2007, which is under way at the State Scientific Library in Banská Bystrica until April 4. The exhibit will then tour other Slovak towns.

The photo book will represent Slovakia at international exhibitions in Prague and Warsaw.
