SLOVAK high school student Ľubomír Urbančok from Fiľakovo became the first Slovak to place well at the Intel International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF) in the United States.
Urbančok won fourth place from among 1,500 participants who submitted about 1,000 projects.
His project focused on the symbiotic binary star BF Cygni.
Slovakia was also represented by Viktória Soltészová, Annamária Šofranková and Martin Furman.
The Intel – ISEF fair is the biggest event in science and technology in the world, Pavol Rapavý from the observatory in Rimavská Sobota told the SITA newswire on May 20.
