Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, Prince Philip, are visiting Slovakia this autumn upon an invitation from President Ivan Gašparovič.

The royal couple will also visit Slovenia. It is the first time either of them will have been to either country, though their sons, Charles and Andrew, have been to Slovakia before.

Queen Elizabeth is the longest-reigning monarch in the world. She ascended to the throne in February 1952 upon the death of her father, King George VI. She is the Queen of 16 independent states and their overseas territories and dependencies. Since 1952, she has visited more than 325 countries, including repeat visits. SITA
