The Slovak government will continue pursuing an economic policy focused on strong economic growth, but will devote the same portion of attention to the social sphere, Prime Minister Fico told the Slovakia Euro Changeover Conference on September 22.

"We are realising and will realise economic policy that supports strong economic growth and we will implement social policy based on traditional European values. Both these goals are equal," Fico said.

He said the government’s deficit next year is expected to be the lowest ever, of which the biggest portion will be shortfall caused by the introduction of the second pillar of the pension system. SITA
