The current global financial crisis will be the main topic at an unscheduled European Union summit in Brussels at which EU leaders including Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico will meet for a working lunch on November 7.

At the meeting, which was convened by French President Nicolas Sarkozy, the EU leaders are due to agree on an unified stance on the economic situation. This will then be presented by France, which currently holds the EU presidency, at an international Financial Crisis Summit in Washington on November 15. France organised an emergency summit on the financial crisis on October 12, when representatives of EU-member states passed a package of measures designed to tackle the crisis. TASR
