Salaries rose most in postal services and telecoms in October

The average nominal monthly salary rose year-on-year in all monitored sectors in October, with the biggest increase recorded in the category of postal services and telecommunications - 10.6 percent, the Statistics Office reported on Wednesday. Nominal salaries in construction rose by 9.9 percent year-on-year. Other year-on-year increases were: in wholesale - 9.3 percent, in retail - 7.5 percent, in transport - 7.3 percent, in real estate, rentals, business activities and other services - 6.1 percent, in hotels and restaurants - 4.7 percent, in industry - 4.4 percent, and in the sale and maintenance of motor vehicles - 3.2 percent. Average monthly salaries in postal services and telecommunications in the first ten months of this year reached Sk28,410 (€943.04). Other average salaries were: In real estate, rentals, business activities and other services - Sk24,122 (€800.70), in industry - Sk21,647 (€718.55), in transport - Sk21,103 (€700.49), in wholesale - Sk20,894 (€693.55), in the sale and maintenance of motor vehicles - Sk20,597 (€683.70), in construction - Sk16,387 (€543.95), in retail - Sk14,789 (€490.90), and in hotels and restaurants - Sk11,048 (€366.73).
