Donovaly, a prominent center of winter and summer sports, holds the third edition of International Sprint Dogsled Racing Championship from February 6 to 8, 2009.

Dogs of various races and their drivers, or mushers, from the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Austria and Russia will compete on four tracks long from 8 to 20 kilometers.

Apart from the exciting races, a number of accompanying events are available for all cheerers.

Some smaller short-distance and mid-distance dogsled racing competitions take place at Oravská Lesná (Dec 18-20), Ulíč (Jan 3-4), Látky (Jan 10-11), Čavoj (Jan 17-18), Dubovica (Jan 24-25), Drozdovo (Jan 31-Feb 1), Zuberec (Feb 14-15), Vyšné Ružbachy (Feb 21-22), Lom nad Rimavicou (Feb 28-Mar 1) and Habura (Mar 7-8).
