Parts of the call centre of the mobile operator Orange, including the invoice, info centre and technical support departments, will move from Bratislava to Banská Bystrica, the Sme daily reported. Part of the services will remain in Bratislava.
The new call centre will have about 200 jobs. The positions that will be moved are those with fluctuation of up to 40 percent, said Orange spokesman Richard Fides.
“All the employees were offered the possibility to work in Banská Bystrica if it was convenient for them,” Fides said for Sme, adding that the company had prepared motivation packages for them.
Employees have said that this is part of a gradual process of moving all the services to Banská Bystrica, Sme reported. The company is already advertising the vacancies in central Slovakia on profesia.sk, a website for jobseekers.
Another company to move from Bratislava is the health insurance company Dôvera, which will now be located in Nitra. Both Dôvera and Orange say the economic crisis is not the reason for the moving.
Moving the customer service centres to a cheaper locations is a logical step for the companies, said Robert Kičina, the executive director of the Slovak Business Association and that more companies can be expected to follow suit.
