The 45th Summer School of Slovak Language and Culture, Studia Academica Slovaca (SAS), will be held under the auspices of the Faculty of Arts of Comenius University with courses held in Bratislava.
Running from August 2-22, 2009, the course is aimed at all those interested in studying Slovak language and culture. This intensive programme is offered especially to university or college professors, experienced teachers, postgraduates and advanced undergraduates of Slovak and Slavonic studies, to writers, translators and anyone else interested in Slovak language and culture.
The aim of the course is to enable students to improve and extend their competence in the Slovak language as well as increasing their level of expertise in Slovak literature and culture.
The SAS Summer School is the oldest summer language school in Slovakia having been established in 1965 and operating since 1966 under the name of Studia Academica Slovaca. Every year, around 150 participants from more than 25 different countries study at Comenius University and enjoy the benefit of its Slovak studies courses. Those leading the seminars and lectures at SAS are professional teachers and lecturers, experts in teaching Slovak as a foreign language, and often experienced in teaching abroad.
For scholarships, please contact the Slovak Embassy in your country, from which you can receive an application form. If you are a student of Slovak language and culture at a university abroad, ask your Slovak lecturer for information. Other applicants should contact the Slovak Embassy in their home country, from which they will receive an application form and further information. The selection procedures are organised by Slovak representative bodies abroad.
