THE POLICE on February 15 arrested 11 purported members of the Bratislava underworld who the General Prosecutor’s Office believes are members of the Sýkorovci criminal organisation.

“They have been committing criminal activities of a mainly violent character in the area of Pezinok, Senec and partly in Bratislava,” said the spokesperson of the General Prosecutor’s Office, Jana Tökölyová, as quoted by the SITA newswire.

The men were charged with the crime of founding and supporting a criminal organisation and other crimes, SITA wrote. An embargo on any further information has been applied to the case.

A prosecutor from the Special Prosecution Office had filed a request for arrest of all the 11 detained men on February 18, the TASR newswire reported. The Specialised Crime Court was expected to decide about the request on February 19 in case of one of the men and on February 20 about the remaining ten persons, accused of a particularly serious crime.
