Trade surplus of €176.3 million in March

PRELIMINARY numbers by the Slovak Statistics Office show a foreign trade surplus in March of €176.3 million, which is €152.9 million more than in March 2009, the SITA newswire reported.

Following February’s revised surplus of €53.6 million, exports exceeded imports by €301.6 million in the period from January to March.

Exports in March reached €3.978 billion, up 19 percent year-on-year. Imports rose 14.5 percent year-on-year to €3.802 billion. In February, imports grew by 16.1 percent to €3.347 billion and exports jumped by 17.1 percent to €3.401 billion. In the first three months of 2010, exports increased by 16.9 percent from the same period in 2009 to €10.471 billion and imports rose by 10.6 percent to reach €10.169 billion.
