Head of Slovakia’s trade agency is recalled by Economy Minister

Economy Minister Ľubomír Jahnátek on recalled Juraj Kiesel from his post of general director of the Slovak Trade and Investment Development Agency (SARIO), with the president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Slovakia, Robert Šimončič, put in charge of the agency as of June 1, Vahram Chuguryan of the ministry’s communications department told the TASR newswire. According to Chuguryan, Kiesel is currently preparing to embark on a diplomatic mission to the Libyan capital Tripoli. Kiesel was put in charge of SARIO on May 8, 2009, after his predecessor Peter Hajás was dismissed. Kiesel then became the agency's general director on September 2.

Kiesel joined SARIO in 2004, and headed the international missions department as an expert on the Middle East before being nominated for the post of director. Jahnátek has now appointed Róbert Šimončič to lead the agency. The new SARIO director served as director general of Microsoft Slovakia and president of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in the Slovak Republic, the SITA newswire wrote.
