THE SLOVAK Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO) will have a new director beginning this month, the SITA newswire reported.
Economy Minister Ľubomír Jahnátek appointed Robert Šimončič to lead the agency as of June 1. The new SARIO director has previously served as director general of Microsoft Slovakia and president of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in the Slovak Republic.
Šimončič replaces Juraj Kiesel, whom the minister recalled on May 31. The ministry explained that Kiesel was preparing for a diplomatic mission to the Libyan capital, Tripoli, SITA wrote.
Kiesel had held the top job at SARIO since September 2009. He was first appointed as the temporary head of the agency in May last year after Jahnátek removed Peter Hajaš, a nominee of the Slovak National Party (SNS) from the job.
