1,800 state-subsidised jobs created

BY THE end of April, nearly 1,800 new jobs had been created as a result of government subsidies to support regional and local employment which were introduced in March of this year, the SITA newswire reported.

BY THE end of April, nearly 1,800 new jobs had been created as a result of government subsidies to support regional and local employment which were introduced in March of this year, the SITA newswire reported.

Labour Offices will provide €5.8 million in subsidies for the new jobs, according to figures released by the Central Labour Office. The money goes to municipalities and counties which in turn hire disadvantaged jobseekers for a defined period of time. Their work contracts are required to last for at least nine months.
