BY THE end of April, nearly 1,800 new jobs had been created as a result of government subsidies to support regional and local employment which were introduced in March of this year, the SITA newswire reported.
Labour Offices will provide €5.8 million in subsidies for the new jobs, according to figures released by the Central Labour Office. The money goes to municipalities and counties which in turn hire disadvantaged jobseekers for a defined period of time. Their work contracts are required to last for at least nine months.
