The Slovak national football team, in its final warm-up match, before the World Cup begins in South Africa soundly beat Costa Rica 3-0 at the Pasienky stadium in Bratislava on Saturday, June 5.
Slovak team coach Vladimír Weiss was given a nasty jolt, however, when Liverpool centre-back Martin Škrtel was taken to hospital after suffering an ankle injury in the 13th minute. An examination showed that he was only suffering from a swollen ankle which could heal within a few days, the TASR newswire wrote.
Goals were scored in the 16th minute by Sequeira (OG), in the 46th minute by Vittek, and in the 87th minute by Šesták (P). The attendance was 10,074.
