Politics took a back seat to the weather this week, as rain and flooding forced thousands of people from their homes .

And just when we thought we knew the truth about public procurement, and how it has been regularly skewed towards companies close to the ruling coalition, a corruption watchdog has published a list of 919 tenders and purchases that were never revealed to the public.

Slovakia’s hottest political scandal showed no signs of cooling off last week, as entrepreneur Bohumil Hanzel turned over to the Swedish embassy what he claimed was proof that Prime Minister Robert Fico raised millions of euros in undisclosed funds for his Smer party before 2002 elections .

Tomorrow night, Team Slovakia departs for South Africa and the nation’s first appearance at a World Cup. After Coach Vladimir Weiss announced the team’s final 23-man roster last week , his crew wrapped up their training by defeating Costa Rica three nil on Saturday.
