Slovakia’s Agriculture Ministry has decided to ask the European Commission for early direct payments for farmers amounting to70 percent as of October 1 of this year because of the recent floods, according to the SITA newswire.
The ministry said it does not have the resources on its own to directly compensate farmers for their losses. Along with an act on managing risks in agriculture, the ministry is also preparing an act on compensation which will be related mainly to the scope of compensation in
connection with this year’s floods.
