Economy minister proposes stimuli packages for two investors

Economy and Construction Minister Juraj Miškov will propose the cabinet to provide stimuli for two foreign investors. Namely, the compressor-producing Brazil-based company Embraco Slovakia, which stands ready to create 300 jobs in Spišská Nová Ves (Košice region) and the Belgian-Slovak metal processor LVD S2 that will create some 250 jobs in Revúca (Banská Bystrica region), Miškov told TASR newswire. According to Miškov, these are high-quality projects that were neglected by the former government.

"On the other hand, however, there were projects [in 2006 and 2010] to which I wouldn't ever have given consent due to their non-transparent background,” Miškov has said. “Specifically, I'm referring to investors I've never heard of who created jobs at extremely high costs."

An in-depth audit of all contracts and public procurement processes is currently underway at the Economy and Construction Ministry.

"As soon as I get my hands on the audit's results, I'll surely let the public know about any controversial cases," he told TASR.
