Bratislava HORSE RACES:

THE TRADITIONAL Sunday horse races in the Petržalka district of Bratislava offer two major competitions on August 29: the Prize of the Turf, a flat race for 1st category horses over 3 years old covering 2,400 metres, and the 20th European Championship for female amateur jockeys, which begin at 14:00 at the Petržalka-Ovsište, Starohájska 29. LIVE MUSIC: Team de Azúcar – This band from Cuba will perform at the Magio bar on the Magio (T-Com) Beach on the Petržalka bank of the Danube River, bringing its exotic melodies to the closing days of the Slovak summer.

REGGAE FESTIVAL: Uprising Reggae Festival – Bands and musicians like Alborosie, Dub Incorporation, Panjabi MC, Cali, MC Zulu, A.M.O, Haf & Beyuz & La3no Cubano, Kokoro, and many more will bring the flair of the Caribbean to Zlaté Piesky, including capoiera, sports and games as well as exotic cuisine.

EXHIBITION: András Cséfalvay – Answered Prayers. This exhibition brings the solo works of the Oskár Čepan 2009 Prize laureate. For this gallery, he chose video-installation as his medium.

JAZZ MUSIC: Jazz na korze – Jazz enlivens every Friday in August at the Nitra “korzo”, the pedestrian zone under the musical clock. Apart from the Ego Group, there is also a musical surprise prepared for passers-by and fans, together with wine tasting and cakes – jazzovníks.

EXHIBITION:

AMNÉSIS, an exhibition by Ladislav Pálmai in the Central Slovak Gallery in Banská Bystrica (Vila Dominika Skuteckého, Horná 55), is an installation of artworks by this young author which contemplate symbols from Jewish and Christian mysticism while based on Plato’s idealism. The works approach transcendentalism, spiritual levels of life, and the imaginary breaking down of walls dividing individual worlds and evil from good. Ticket price: €0.50 to €1.50.
