Not only Ján Slota and Anna Belousovová will run for the post of leader of the Slovak National Party (SNS) at the party’s national congress set for September 25 in Ružomberok as SNS vice-chairman Dušan Švantner told the TASR newswire on September 9 that he will also stand for the position.
“The most important thing is for our party members to understand that we won't vote on a leader based on ourselves ... but that we need to select someone who will be respected by politicians from other parties and, of course, our voters,” said Švantner.
He noted that in 2004 he was one of those who contributed towards the reconciliation between Slota and Belousovová, which later turned out to be a key moment for the party.
