NATO defence chiefs to meet in Tatras

TRANSFORMATION of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the future of operations under its command are the main topics for discussion at a meeting NATO's Military Committee held in the High Tatras between September 17 and 19.

Chiefs of defence of all 28 member states of NATO, headed by Admiral Giampaolo di Paola, the chairman of the NATO Military Committee, will hold one of their regular meetings for 2010 in Slovakia, the SITA newswire reported.

The spokesman for Slovakia's Armed Forces, Milan Vanga, said strict security measures would be in place for the conference. NATO’s Military Committee meets at least three times a year.
