REPRESENTATIVES of Slovakia’s Confederation of Trade Unions (KOZ) took part in a European demonstration held on September 29 in Brussels to protest against cuts in national budgets.

According to trade unionists, the cuts are at the expense of employees and citizens of individual EU countries. A 52-member KOZ delegation joined the demonstration, representing a Slovak union membership base of 360,000 members. KOZ said it was seeking job security and social justice. The demonstration in Brussels was dubbed European Action Day.
