THE TRAGIC death of prominent lawyer Ernest Valko, found shot dead in his house in Limbach outside Bratislava on November 8, indicates that other attorneys might be threatened, said the Slovak Bar Association.
The representatives of the bar association are now demanding that attorneys be considered among those Slovaks who can receive some form of special police protection.
“The important thing is that every attorney who objectively feels threatened should be provided with appropriate protection,” Naďa Ondrišová, the spokesperson for the bar association, told the SITA newswire.
“Otherwise the basic right of citizens for legal assistance will be threatened too,” she added.
