Bratislava CONCERT:

VIENNESE child prodigy Stefan Stroissnig, who has been playing the piano publicly since he was 11, will appear at a concert on November 29, at 18:00, in the Mozart Hall of the Austrian Embassy in Bratislava, to perform Bénédiction de Dieu dans la solitude by Franz Liszt, Sonata No 2 Fis Minor by Johannes Brahms, and Gasteiner Sonata by Franz Schubert. MARTIAL ARTS: An evening combining demonstrations of martial arts like Kung-fu, Aikido, Capoeira, Shaolin, Kendo and others, with a taste of traditional Latin American dance from the Latino Culture Project of Miguel Méndez. GLASS EXHIBITION: Sklo / Glass is the simple name of this exhibition by famous Czech glassmaker-artist Jan Frydrych, who was a member of the jury of the second year of the Galéria NOVA Prize – SKLO 2009. After beginning his work as a glass-blower, Frydrych became a freelance artist in 1982 and has since received several prizes.

BYZANTINE MANUSCRIPTS: Pramene byzantskej tradície na Slovensku / The Sources of Byzantine Tradition in Slovakia – An exhibition consisting primarily of manuscripts and documents, combined with lectures, which shows the roots of Byzantine-Slavic culture and tradition in Slovakia. The lecture on November 30 is connected to the Year of Christian Culture 2010.

Banská Štiavnica

EXHIBITION: Rezidenti 2010 / Residents 2010 in the new Banská St A Nica contemporary exhibition space, situated inside the town’s functioning railway station, shows the works of Milan Houser (Czech Republic, 3-months Visegrad residence; H-Room), Susan van Hengstum (Netherlands, 2-months travelling residence; It is All Eyes), and Jana Farmanová (Slovakia, 2-weeks painting pilot micro-residence).
