Slovakia’s budget deficit hits €1 billion in April but is less than last year

The Slovak state budget deficit increased from €655 million in March to €1.019 billion in April, the Finance Ministry announced on May 2, the TASR newswire wrote. The deficit was better in annual terms, however, as the deficit in April 2010 was €1.480 billion. The overall deficit for 2011 is projected to reach €3.8 billion, TASR reported.

State revenue for the fourth month of 2011 amounted to €3.636 billion, an increase of 12.8 percent year-on-year. Expenditures reached €4.654 billion, which constituted a drop of 1.1 percent on an annual basis.
