Puppet Theatre Festival

Rozprávky bratov Grimmovcov / The Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm is an international festival of puppet theatre taking place between June 16 and June 19 in the Bratislava Puppet Theatre (Bratislavské bábkové divadlo) in Dunajská Street. This year is the 225th anniversary of the birth of Wilhelm Grimm who, together with his brother Jacob, are among the world's best-known collectors of folk tales. Puppeteers from across Europe (including representatives from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Russia and Serbia) meet to offer audiences their quite different artistic perceptions of the work of the Brothers Grimm – and to prove that puppet theatre can be well understood in spite of language barriers.
