THE NUMBER of authorised car disposal businesses currently operating in Slovakia is 37 – along with an extensive network of additional collection sites. The SITA newswire wrote in mid June that Slovakia’s Recycling Fund has aided in developing this comprehensive system for collection and processing the components of old cars.

The businesses supported by the Recycling Fund collected and processed 37,889 old vehicles last year. They processed 72,508 vehicles in 2009 but this high number was due to the government’s special car-scrapping bonus scheme.
