EXHIBITION:
Painter Michal Bauer, a Czech designer and patternmaker of prototypes for the Mercedes company exhibits his personalised artworks made of acrylic materials in bright colours in the GUBA gallery in Galvaniho 17 C1-C2 in Bratislava until September 17. Letná jazzová dielňa / Summer Jazz Workshop – For anyone who wants to learn to play or sing jazz, this event offers famous musicians and experts as tutors from Slovakia, Poland, the Czech Republic and the US.

Classic Chamber Orchestra – The CCO features talented musicians, mostly studying at various artistic schools, and with soloists Karolína Hurayová (cello), Pavel Bogacz jr. (violin) and Radomír Cikatricis (violin) playing the work of Antonio Vivaldi, the Concert for Cello and the Four Seasons.

EXHIBITION:
Priestory / Spaces – Artist Mira Podmanická exhibits stitched hanging objects that form individual rooms. Podmanická sews several layers of textile together and forms them into ground plans, exhibition’s curator P. Ševčíková says. The stitched patterns vary although they are based on folklore motifs.

Dominik Hlinka Upomienka / Reminder – The gallery on the 2nd floor of the City Library offer this first solo presentation of works by Dominik Hlinka, a third-year student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava. The exhibition is a selection of works from the recent Status Quo series.

Puojd-u – The exhibition of the new Slovak clothes brand, Puojd (Loft), is presented in the Dizajn štúdio of the ÚĽUV folkart centre. Michaela Bendárová of Puojd displays her sensible, witty attitude toward national identity veiled in her rich sense of humour on the motif of the Slovak state symbol.

After Bratislava and Košice, Liptovský Mikuláš becomes the third city to host the Classic Modern Art from France exhibit. This exhibit includes art from the private collection of Ivan Markovič in Austria. Until August 31, the Koloman Sokol Centre at Námestie Osloboditeľov 28 offers 38 less-known works by 32 renowned and established French artists on Tuesdays to Saturdays, from 10:00 to 17:00 for €0.50-€1. Parkour Meeting – Parkour is the discipline which makes racers (traceurs) get from the starting point to the destination point with just the help of his/her own body, overcoming natural hurdles and barriers (trees, stones, railings, walls) while one’s own abilities are the only true rival.

Zvolenské kultúrne leto 2011 – The Zvolen Cultural Summer brings a host of events such as an Ecumenical Celebration of Sts. Malý štrbský maratón / The Small Štrba Marathon – The 34th year of this 31-kilometre run goes from Štrba to Liptovská Teplička. A 10-km route is also available. The race is organised according to the official guidelines of classical track and field disciplines.
