Renowned Czech singer and musician Dan Bárta, who has sung with many musicians of different genres (including, for example, Bobby McFerrin) has invited the Epoque Quartet, a string quartet, to give the music of his Illustratosphere band a new touch. On December 8, they will give a concert together in the Ateliér Babylon club, SNP Square 14, Bratislava, at 19:00. Tickets cost €20. Orchestre National de Lille – This acclaimed French orchestra will play in the Slovak capital. Conducted by Jean-Claude Casadeus and with Hyeyoon Park as a violin soloist, it will perform Ravel’s Ma Mére l’Oye, Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto No 2 and Bizet’s Symphony in C Major. Klezmer meets Balkan – The Pressburger Klezmer Band, which plays typical central-European Jewish music, joins forces with Biroslav Vukovic (Bosnia and Herzegovina), and Anita Ribar (Serbia) to give a concert of mixed genres. Zámocký slnovrat / The Castle Solstice – The Slnovrat festival opens, for the 3rd time now, the door of mystic, spiritualist and alternative spheres to lure its visitors into explorative expeditions. Advent v Novohrade – Advent in Novohrad Region is an ethnographic exhibition that maps the whole period leading to Christmas from the point of view of traditions, habits, rituals and perceived magic. Musical programme:
A joint project by the group afterPhurikane and singer Jana Kirschner, this special “droma khere / On the Way Home” event brings together on one stage and in various combinations Roma singers Marcelka and Jozef Dreveòáks, Irenka Pokutová, Béla Pokuta, Martinka Ïuïová, African percussionist Thierry Ebam, Slovak accordionist Boris Lenko, Slovak cellist Jozef Lupták, British pianist Eddie Stevens and Slovak singer Jana Kirschner in a unique musical programme that tours four Slovak cities: Levoèa, Martin, Bratislava and Košice.
