PENTA, a central European investment group, has expanded its business in comprehensive administration and maintenance of buildings, i.e. facility management or FM, by adding cleaning services. In early February it announced its acquisition of a leading cleaning services provider in Poland, Clar System. By acquiring AB Facility in the Czech Republic in December 2010, Penta said it is pursuing a strategy of consolidation in the FM sector in central Europe. The transaction is subject to approval by Slovakia's Anti-Monopoly Office and its value will not be disclosed, Penta said on its website.

Poznań-based Clar System was founded in 1999 and currently employs 4,000. Its revenue of €18 million in 2011 representated 24-percent year-on-year growth.

“In Poland, we reviewed several potential acquisition targets in the facility management sector and finally opted for Clar System,” said Zdeněk Kubát, Penta’s investment director. “It is a company with an excellent track record, solid coverage across Poland and a diversified portfolio of clients allowing for further growth in terms of scale as well as scope of offered services.”
