CONCERT:
The Nikolaj Nikitin Quartet (Nikitin – saxophone, Gabriel Jonáš – piano, Jozef Dome – drums, and Juraj Griglák – double bass) will perform on September 3 at 20:30 in the Hlava XXII music club in Bazová 9 with guest world-renowned US jazzman, trumpeter Michael “Patches” Stewart. Oskar Rózsa Partnership Unlimited is a free grouping of prominent personalities of Slovak (and sometimes Czech) jazz music, interpreting the work of Oskar Rózsa.

FESTIVAL:
Banská Štiavnica’s Salamandrové dni / Salamander Days has grown from a low key festival marking the beginning of the school year of students at the mining academy, to a big town festival including music, theatre, programmes for children, an open day at the Mining Archives, exhibitions, traditional markets, a festive mass and – the culmination – a parade through the town, featuring the personage of Salamander, the town symbol. Salamander Days takes place between September 7 and 9 at various sites in Banská Štiavnica. Some events are free to the public and others are invitation only.

THEATRE FESTIVAL:
Festival divadiel strednej Európy / Central European Theatre Festival is being organised for the 6th time by the civic association Košické divadlo in collaboration with the local Štátne divadlo / State Theatre. Presenting ensembles from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia, the programme includes dance performances, musicals, fairy tales, but also street theatre and accompanying events like exhibitions and photo-workshops.

NIGHT RUN:
The first Košice Night Run will take place in September, with a nine kilometre course that goes through the city centre. The trend of night runs is gaining popularity, and the European Capital of Culture 2013 surely deserves one, too.
